Christopher Blum, Ph.D.
Academic Dean

As a distinguished professor, full of wit and eloquent oratory, Dr. Christopher Blum serves the Augustine Institute as Academic Dean and teaches History and Theology. Inspired by his mentors and fellow graduate students at the University of Notre Dame, Dr. Blum’s top professional goal is to contribute to the renewal of Catholic higher education in the United States.

After earning his B.A. in Biology from the University of Virginia, Dr. Blum went on to earn his Ph.D. in History and Philosophy of Science from Notre Dame. His thinking about Catholic higher education has been shaped by the thought of Saint John Henry Newman, Alasdair MacIntyre, and Benedict XVI. Through his teaching and writing, Dr. Blum contributes to the recovery of the right understanding of nature as deeply intelligible and beautifully ordered, in a word, as God’s Creation.

Dr. Blum’s faith and leadership, exemplified through his thoughtful words and actions, helps drive the Augustine Institute’s mission of helping Catholics understand, live, and share their faith.
