The Augustine Institute has mastered the art of taking the distance out of distance education. Bringing together compelling education and a community-building experience, the faculty and students come together to encounter Christ Himself in the rich wisdom of the Church. Join us and be transformed in your mind and your heart.
The graduate theology curriculum at the Augustine Institute contains the essentials for effectively sharing the Gospel in the New Evangelization: Three courses in Sacred Scripture that teach you how to bring the Word of God alive; Three courses in Catholic Doctrine that prepare you to give a reason for the faith within you; Three courses on the history and theology of evangelization to spur you to mission; and three elective courses that allow you to hone your special theological or pastoral gifts.
Augustine Studios delivers a state-of-the-art classroom experience to students around the globe. As an Augustine Institute distance education student, you receive the highest quality video courses filmed live to our on-campus students. Courses are never re-used for more than one year, so the content you receive will always be new. The Distance Education program features the most advanced online tools for course interaction and resources, and you will also have the opportunity to interact with our faculty through various media, including email, telephone, and video conferencing.
Our program is designed for maximal flexibility to meet the busy schedules and different time zones of our students. Students access lectures any time in an “on-demand” delivery style each week. Courses are offered in structured Fall/Spring/Summer terms, to promote a learning community model, and with three terms year-round students have control over the timeline to completing their 12-course degree curriculum. There are three term starts per year with rolling admission, so you can apply any time!
The Augustine Institute does not burden distance students with a residency requirement; however, students have the option to take week-long intensive courses on-campus in Denver in January and June to meet our faculty and their fellow students. In sight of the Rocky Mountains, the Augustine Institute’s location offers a beautiful setting to visit. These standard 3-credit courses meet all day Monday-Friday for a single week and are followed by 2-3 assignments over the month following for a final grade. Two to three course options are made available each week. During intensive courses you can expect to participate in the life of the Institute through daily Mass and join in fellowship with faculty as well as other students from around the nation. All distance students are also warmly invited to participate in our graduation exercises in May.
Our faculty are dedicated to forming students in the Catholic intellectual tradition in order to enrich their spiritual lives and to prepare them for evangelical work. All of our faculty members are committed to marrying the life of the mind with the life and all hold a mandate from the Catholic Church. The direct interaction and availability of professors define the distance experience at the Augustine Institute. We have 11 full-time faculty members who live in-residence here in Denver and collaborate on the most successful ways to approach distance teaching. Faculty deliver a personalized experience through online discussion boards as well as classroom Skype sessions. Faculty make themselves available through email, phone, and Skype for questions outside of the classroom.
Since the Augustine Institute was founded in 2005, over 500 alumni now serve in parishes, dioceses, apostolates, and schools throughout the world.
